The last 3 days our meals were a quart of green smoothie with specific fruit. We are looking for food sensitivities so we add things back in slowly. These 3 days were supposed to be “high elimination” days, but that wasn’t the case for me. I’ve added Terrazyme today to make sure things are moving out of my system. I had to add some solid food each day, broccoli twice and a few little baked potatoes on Friday. I couldn’t even drink all 3 quarts of smoothie on Saturday and I wasn’t hungry.
Saturday was very busy with training where I was one of the presenters, and helping my in-laws get new phones etc, so I didn’t get to shop until late and was up prepping meals later than I had wanted to. I have to say the plan makes it very easy to do the shopping and prep, even for very busy people. I didn’t have time to figure out if I had any of the things left at home so I just bought everything on the list and again not worried about price. This was an expensive trip because of all the nuts and some of the fruit like the dried dates. I purchased all organic if it was an option, all of the nuts were raw and most of them were sprouted. So for 2 people for 7 days the total was $281.66. I’ll have to check to see what the cost of the few additional things I needed for days 4-7 on phase 2 were for the cumulative total.
Today we start the 2nd phase, we have a lot more options, and a lot more calories. We were instructed to eat until we are stuffed. We are starting it introduce some additional grains and whole fruits. After 3 days of smoothies it is nice to have cooked and solid foods again. My favorite addition is Rye bread, I love bread and at lunch today it was heaven to bite into a nice slice of toasted bread. I love that there are so many options so if you dislike one element there are so many others to choose from.
My husband is a lot more active than I am and he seems to have a lot more energy than I do. He has been able to do spin classes, do a few hours of mountain biking on Saturday and a 50-60 mile road ride on Sunday in addition to hitting the gym most mornings. Many of our friends have continued to train, but find they can’t push the pace hard, but this is a good month to dial it back a bit and ride or run base pace.
I have to say any doubts of being able to complete this program are gone. I will likely do it every year in January and will add some additional detox elements to my routine next year.
