I have suffered from depression for years and I’ve learned to manage it a number of ways. Keeping as much stress out of my life is key to me keeping the blues away. The detox has made that a much bigger challenge than I was expecting. I seem to be suffering in this area much more than the others on the program. Having to try to determine how low to allow my salt intake to go to keep my blood pressure in a good range has also been a bit of a challenge. When it dips low I get a bit of brain fog.
This week was the most challenging for me. I’m not really tempted to add foods not on the plan. I’m just having a hard time getting things done and I don’t feel mentally sharp. Couple that with the busiest week of the month and my monthly cycle and I’ve been crabby. I don’t like feeling this way, but I’m not finding the motivation to do the things I would normally do to improve my mood. I’m someone who really enjoys having things planned and I haven’t been able to keep on some of my work which creates stress. My husband on the other hand is feeling better than he has in a long time.
I ran into another couple in our group while shopping for the final phase and they are both feeling great and are thrilled to be on the plan. It’s good to know that my experience isn’t the norm. In one of our first emails from Robyn Openshaw she warned that at some point we may have an emotional breakdown. I wouldn’t say I’m having a break down, just out of my comfort zone and not fining an easy path back into it.
This week was also targeted detox of specific organs so the food was a bit odd, we had a couple of days of a lot of watermelon. This time of year that was a bit expensive. I was amazed that I never felt hungry of course I probably ate 7-10 lbs each day. We also had a couple of days that had a lot of apple juice, which I don’t care for, but managed to get it down. It doesn’t take much food to make me feel full anymore.
I’m really excited by some of the foods in the final phase, we are bringing back corn and wheat. Not that either of them are foods we should eat on a regular basis, but they are common in our culture and bringing them back one at a time will allow us to see if we have any sensitivities to them.
We are so close to the finish that I have no doubt I’ll finish the program, but I’ve decided for me I need to add salt back into my diet. I’m loving my weight loss and my digestive system seems to be functioning much better than when I started. I have no doubt that I will be doing the full program again next year. I will however be looking at doing a full level 2 and will be adding all of the digestive support supplements to ensure I’m moving the toxins out of my system as much as possible.
So no pictures this time, just a few notes and a bit of complaining. I even forgot to take pictures of my shopping trip.
